revive 2010: day 12

10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
ephesians 6:10-18

Father of glory we humbly come before you as weak and broken people. Father i admit that it is easy for me to fall into the lies of the enemy. it is easy to fall into compromise and laziness and apathy. it is easy to believe the lies that there is no hope, for me to fall into despair and depression. God, in my weakness it is easy for me to fall into self-hatred and forget my identity and my self-worth found as your son. it is easy for my faith to be dictated by my emotions or what i am currently feeling at the moment. Abba, i buckle the belt of truth around my waist. that i may gird myself with your truth and your promises, found only in your word. as i ground myself in your promise, i put all my hope in you.

Father i'm asking that your people would be ones who buckle on belt of truth daily. God that our very identity and worship will overflow from an understanding of the truth found in your word. thank you God, that we can put all our hope in you alone, and you will never put us to shame. thank you God that you are our only constant, and you will never forsake us or leave us, even in our weaknesses.

God let your people be ones who take the sword of the spirit which is your Word and wield it with power and authority. let us eat your word, let us live off it, let it sustain our spirits as does bread to our body. and as your people read your word, let us not just highlight it in our bible and forget about it. rather, let us use it in our dialogue and prayer language with you. as we meditate upon your word, i'm asking for the spirit of revelation to bring your word to life. and as we proclaim your word, let it bring life, extinguishing the kingdom of darkness. let darkness tremble and the proclamation of your word. let your word run swiflty, oh God.
