student revival movement ucsd: day 6

6"Is not this the fast that I choose:
to loose the bonds of wickedness,
to undo the straps of the yoke,
to let the oppressed go free,
and to break every yoke?
7Is it not to share your bread with the hungry
and bring the homeless poor into your house;
when you see the naked, to cover him,
and not to hide yourself from your own flesh?
8Then shall your light break forth like the dawn,
and your healing shall spring up speedily;
your righteousness shall go before you;
the glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard.
9Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer;
you shall cry, and he will say, 'Here I am.'
-isaiah 58:6-9

God today i am asking for you to take your people into the heart of true fasting. God i'm asking for your church to know how to love in a real and genuine way. that we would walk the talk, that we would live out the fullness of the gospel of Jesus in our lives. teach us, convict us of the ways that we have become comfortable in our christian bubbles. convict us of the ways we have been too lazy, apathetic, or too fearful to step out in boldness to preach your word, to share the gospel, and the ways we have failed to demonstrate your love to others.

God, i'm asking that you would remove all hypocrisy in church, start with me. God i ask that you would convict hearts of those who have settled for a comfortable christian life. continue to stretch your people, oh God. may we allow ourselves to be stretched, may we be simply obedient to the commands written in your word.

as you revive our hearts, God, teach us what it means to be revival. start with me.
